David Nott Foundation
The David Nott Foundation's training provides local surgeons with the specialist skills they need to work in war and disaster zones. Critically, these skills enable them to save more lives. The Foundation has trained over 700 surgeons from some of the most war-torn and poorest places on earth, benefiting 1.7 million patients.
The David Nott Foundation is a UK-registered charity which provides surgeons and medical professionals with the skills they need to provide relief and assistance in conflict and natural disaster zones around the world. As well as providing the best medical care, David Nott Foundation surgeons will train local healthcare professionals; leaving a legacy of education and improved health outcomes.
Founded and led by renowned British surgeon David Nott, the Foundation benefits from his passion for advancing the best in surgical research, practice and teaching as well as his commitment to helping vulnerable people in some of the most dangerous and disadvantaged places in the world.
For the past twenty years, David has practised surgery in Bosnia, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iraq, Syria, Yemen, Liberia, Chad, Ivory Coast, Libya, Sierra Leone, Central African Republic, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Haiti.
Working with a network of contacts to identify where needs are most acute, David Nott Foundation medics will be deployed in-country not just to treat patients but crucially to pass on the knowledge and techniques learnt with the Foundation.
This ongoing commitment to identifying and training local healthcare professionals through both practical and online education will develop the surgical skills of these individuals so they can ultimately train their colleagues.
