Down to single figure days left!
But before we get to that, we had a fabulous meal at Valbella last night. Ann and I both had Chilean Sea Bass which was the best either of us had ever had….so perfectly cooked! Our host kindly splashed for a 2010 Valdicava Brunello di Montalcino, providing a very generous opportunity to reminisce over the 13 pages of Brunello wines in Montalcino such a short time ago! Of course, we had to have the tiramisu and an amaretto just to round out the empathizing opportunity with the guys on the sole of Italy!
The highlight of today’s flat ride was lunch with large numbers of locals and Spaghetti Pomodoro all round. Lunchtime swimming is also now a standard post-prandial activity and they’ve even figured out taking along their budgie smugglers so as not to pollute the use of the RR20 jerseys! Richard S still to be convinced, but the other two are gung-ho! They did manage to cycle along the autostrada today which was a novel experience!
Tonight’s menu included:
Antipasto and Dried Tomatoes and Peppers
Main course: John - Mixed grill. Richardsx2 and Paul - Cavetelli alla Bregante
Wine: Aglianico from Basilicata region, chosen by Richard S and so local it didn’t even have a label on the bottle!
