No sooner do we have a route finalized through Italy than we realize that Italy has different restrictions to the rest of Europe! Sadly, Michel, who would have been fine to enter France, will not have spent enough time in Europe to be allowed into Italy! He has, therefore, dropped out of this ride and is preparing for next year instead!
In perhaps a vain attempt to get ahead of the next mole to poke its head up above ground, John and I will also have Covid tests on Saturday morning in the hope that the results will be back before we cross the frontier (when you have to have the test no more than 72hrs before arrival in Italy and labs take 3-4 days to process them, the latest challenge becomes/became finding a lab, probably miles away, that can turn them around within 48hrs and over a weekend!).
I get out of UK quarantine on Wednesday and will look forward to catching up with a few friends, finishing up our final practice rides ad packing for Milan!
Please mat the Covid gods, if they exist, smile upon us and keep any other moles well out of sight until after we are all in Italy!!
